The Begin Collection is developed through an in-depth analysis of classic furniture typologies from the 1950s and the traditional craftsmanship of rattan. The design seeks a clear synthesis—an updated and innovative graphic composition rooted in this historical furniture language.

While aligned with contemporary references, the collection avoids unnecessary complexity in both form and weaving technique. It offers a modern interpretation of wicker and rattan heritage, reflecting a deep respect for material culture and aligning with Otazen’s production tradition.

Clear, everyday design. This motif guides the work of designer Mario Ruiz (Alicante, 1965), author of a cosmopolitan path whose language is honest and timeless. Each of his furniture, lighting, technology and creative direction projects are as they seem, objects whose friendly and comprehensible forms invite their use. Among the more than 50 awards he has received are the 2016 National Design Award, Best of Neocon, Metropolis and Wallpaper* Magazine.
